WE CAN SUBMIT CONVINCING FIGURES AS A RESULT OF PERMANENT MONITORING

FOLLOW-UP OF THE EDA HIP PROCEDURE

In order to be able to properly monitor patients, Professor Corten asks all patients for their permission to collect and analyse the protected data online within the GDPR legislation. This analysis is carried out by means of AI software. Patients may, of course, refuse to give their consent to do so, without this in any way affecting the care provided.

The follow-up of a large group of 617 hip operations in 532 patients, operated between 1 January and 31 December 2017, has provided very valuable information. This follow-up shows us that, with the EDA Hip, 80% of patients enjoy a perfect rehabilitation, in which they can spontaneously and completely do without their crutches after 2-3 weeks. This study was published in a leading scientific journal.

Complicaties: EDA in vergelijking met chirurgen die deze techniek niet toepassenIn 19% of patients we observed transient complaints that make recovery somewhat more difficult. These complaints can, for example, be pain in the lower back (7-8%) or muscle pains in the groin (3-4%). The follow-up also shows us that there is an approximately 1% chance of renewed surgery occurring within one year due to a wound issue, a fracture caused by a fall, or an infection. The risk for surgery to the prosthesis itself lies at 0.5%. This is a significantly lower risk than that recorded in the American implant registry, where this risk amounts to 2.9%.

These follow-up figures therefore show that, although there still is a risk of complications with the EDA hip, this risk has been significantly reduced compared to hip prosthesis surgery before this was carried out according to the procedure developed by Professor Corten.

The follow-up figures also demonstrate that the post-surgery functionality of the patients improves significantly, and that 80% reports a ‘forgotten hip’ after one year, which means that the patient is no longer aware of walking around with a prosthesis most of the time.

SURGERY

The Efficient Direct Anterior (EDA) hip operation

This surgery technique developed by Prof. Dr. Corten leads to less complications and a shorter rehabilitation period. 80% of our patients speak of a ‘forgotten hip’ after 6 to 9 months.
